Remote Dog Collar Training For Humans

Remote Dog Collar Training is different from other methods of dog training in a number of ways. In the right hands a Dog Shock Collar Training device is a huge timesaver and will help the most stubborn and self consumed dog.

The number one difference though is that it is much easier to get things wrong and end up confusing your dog if used inappropriately. If you are thinking of buying a Dog Shock Collar it is imperative that you know how to use it correctly to avoid mishaps both to you and your best friend.

It is a very simplistic to think that you can just buy an electronic training collar for your dog and just start zapping away and have your dog become a model citizen overnight. It simply just doesn’t work that way.

Remote Dog Collar Training Tips

Proper Introduction to the Training Collar. It is recommend that you let your dog wear the collar a few times before you ever even put batteries in the device. Why? Well dogs are smarter than you may think and if you put this brand new collar on him (or her) and start zapping, your dog will associate the collar with the “zap” and you’ll have a heck of a time putting it on next time. Let him get used to the collar without the zap and you will not have that problem.

Another problem that’s frequently mentioned among dog owners using the “put on and zap” method is that their pet often becomes “selective” when trained with a collar without proper prior conditioning. They often find that their dog will only behave when the collar is on.

Appropriate Level of Stimulation. It is important to first determine the level of stimulation that is appropriate for your dog. Some dogs like I mentioned in an earlier article can absorb a setting that will make another dog whimper in a corner and act as if it’s been brutalized. The main object of any dog training (with or without a remote dog collar) is to have your dog follow voice commands not to scare or punish him.

Timing Your Zaps or Nicks. You don’t want to zap your dog 5 minutes after you’ve pleaded with him to follow a command. Time your nicks to be no more than 0.5 seconds after being ignored and he will know that the zap was for ignoring you. If you take too long to react to disobedience his mind will be on something else entirely and the zap will only confuse him.

If you are willing to make the major investment in a dog shock collar training device, and don't see the value in purchasing some kind of training for it, I feel sorry for your dog. Without proper training the training device just becomes a tool for torture and that is surely not what you want for man’s best friend.

Responsible and correct use of the remote dog collar training tool will also help you teach your dog all of the most basic commands, like sit, come, heel and stay among others.

The collar by itself will not teach your pet anything, if he simply gets shocked without warning or reprimanding he may end up being more confused. Remote dog collar training should never be used as a tool to punish or harm the dog.

I feel from personal experience that you have to be shown how to correctly use a remote dog collar training device for it to be effective. I have found Leerburg's videos to be very helpful, informative, and have helped me avoid common mistakes. I believe this video is a "must watch" before you start using your electric collar.

Just like any other tool or appliance around the house remote dog collar training is required if you want to make the most out out your investment. I highly recommend Leerburg’s video.
